A beautiful colored etching with blind emboss on cotton paper, signed in pencil, titled, dated, and numbered 34/50. The top ink is a gorgeous blue metallic ink featuring a bird. Professionally framed with UV glass to protect the art. On verso is the original label (pictured).
Akiko Shirai graduated from the University of Fine Arts Tama in Tokyo studying oil painting 1959 and engraving in 1964. She was a member of the Japan Association of Engraving, and has participated in many group exhibitions. The National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo and the National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto each have several of her prints in their collections. Her art was a part of the Avant Garde Movement in Japanese Art and is highly sought after and very collectable.
